How An Electronic Cigarette Works

May 8th, 2010

Electronic cigarettes have been gaining in popularity, and for good reason. They allow you to still experience the look and feel of smoking cigarettes, but with much less damage to your health. They work by the device releasing a vaporized nicotine solution when you put it to your mouth and inhale. This gives you a ‘hit’ of nicotine without you having to take in any smoke or harmful chemicals.

There are various versions of electronic cigarettes available, but they are all based on the same concept. Within the mouthpiece is an absorbent material that is saturated with a liquid nicotine solution. The mouthpiece screws on to the white tube, which is made of a type of metal. There is no need to worry about it getting hot and burning you though, as there is nothing actually alight in it.

The liquid nicotine solution is vaporized by the only heated part of an electronic cigarette, which is in the cartridge. The heater works off a small lithium-ion rechargeable battery. The battery comes with the electronic cigarette, and to charge it up you can either use a wall socket or an in-car charger. The battery life is not amazing, due to the small size of the battery, but you can expect to only need to re-charge it every few days. You can buy an extended life battery if you wanted to, but it is not really necessary.

The nicotine solution in an electronic cigarette will, of course, run out over time, but the good news is that you can buy refills. Therefore, you do not need to keep buying a new electronic cigarette every week. As well as nicotine, the solution also contains either propylene glycol or glycerin. Though the names of those chemicals do not sound too friendly, they are actually not harmful at all, and are both commonly used in food additives. You can choose between a range of different concentrations of nicotine solution, depending on how addicted you are to nicotine. 4mg/ml is the lowest concentration, and 50mg/ml is about the highest.

By gradually reducing the concentration of the nicotine solution that you use in an electronic cigarette, it is not unrealistic to aim to break your nicotine addiction in a couple of months. Of course, it will depend on how much you are smoking now, but there really is no better way to do it. Will power alone is not sufficient for most people, and whilst nicotine gum and nicotine patches work to a degree, many people struggle with them because them are used to holding something in their hand, and without something (i.e. an electronic cigarette) they do not feel ‘right’, as it goes against the habit and behavior that they have developed over time.

Smokeless Cigarettes : The Smart Way To Quit Smoking

May 3rd, 2010

The first time I lit up was almost 20 years ago right after I turned 18. Inhaling was difficult and I remember coughing a lot, but after a few tries was able to take full drag. Soon I started “bumming” cigs of my friends enough that that got annoyed and just told me to go buy a pack. A few weeks later I was buying packs every few days and smoking first thing in the morning. The craving had taken hold, but at the time smoking was enjoyable or me. It tasted great after a meal or with my morning coffee. Plus at work everyone smoked so it became a social outlet. Before I knew it a year had gone by and I was a regular smoker.

Buying cigarettes every day became an expensive habit. At the time my brand cost around 3 bucks per pack, and I was smoking a pack per day solid. That added up to 90 bucks a month just a cigarettes, not to mention the other miscellaneous shopping that accompanied a cig run. Every time I went to the store to buy cigs a soda, gum or candy came along for the ride. Don’t forget about cigarette lighters, how many of those did I lose every month! The final tally was over 100 bucks per month on cigarettes but was easily justified by the cravings.

The moment I wake up in the morning the first thing on my mind was to have a smoke. Sometimes I hardly set a foot out of bed before a cig was lit in my mouth.

Smoking before you brush your teeth always tasted better so I would try to get a few drags in during the slow morning walk from the bedroom to the bathroom. By now I was smoking for years and at a pack solid sometimes two depending what I was doing. A night out with friends at the bar would mean smoking heavily and going though two packs would be no problem. My smoking habit was getting out of control.

It was time to quit but how? Patches, gum and mints upset my stomach and never really helped the need to hold or puff the cig. Sure they help with some of the nicotine withdrawals but more times than not made me sick rather than calm my cravings. The best solution I found was using those new smokeless cigarette that uses water vapor rather than smoke. They look, taste and feel like a real cig and give nice nicotine buzz too. They are even safe to use and not affected by the new smoking bans. The flavors are tasty (I like coffee or apple the best). If you are trying to stop smoking I would defiantly recommend trying a electronic cigarettes.

Nicotine Gum – How It Can Stop You Smoking

April 10th, 2010

Around 15 billion cigarettes are sold around the world every single day, which equates to about 10 million every minute. Why is this number so high? Well, there are a number of reasons. Perhaps it is for peer acceptance or the need to feel more self-confident. Some people also feel as though smoking alleviates their stress levels. These reasons are far outweighed by the health risks though. With the health risks now backed up by more evidence than ever before, more and more people want to live a healthier life. The problem is that people find it extremely hard to end their addiction, even if they want to. Nicotine is addictive, and those who try to stop typically experience temporary, but very annoying, side effects which affect their daily lives. Headaches, feelings of depression and irritability are the main side effects of nicotine withdrawal, but there are others too. This problem was addressed in the early 80s, with the introduction of nicotine gum. It is now the most popular quit smoking aid.

Recently, it has become even easier to try this popular supplement as it is now available over-the-counter. Doctors say that smokers should use it for 3 months in order to end their addiction. Those who still feel the need to smoke after that period of time are advised to speak with their doctor. Though it helps most people, some find themselves becoming addicted to the gum. Effectively, they are just swapping the source of their addiction. The question is then – is it a problem to be addicted to nicotine gum? Whilst no addiction is good for someone, it is clearly better to be addicted to something that provides minimal risk to your health. Whilst nicotine is responsible for the addiction to cigarettes, it is not the cause of the health problems that smokers face. For example, cigarettes contain carcinogens and carbon monoxide, which studies have associated with cancer, whereas Nicotine gum does not contain any cancer-causing substances.

Nicotine-laced gum is also a more sensible way to give your body nicotine. The reason being that it enters your blood stream slowly over the course of 30-60 minutes, whereas cigarettes give you a higher dose of nicotine and in just 5 minutes. However, the gum can perpetuate your physical addiction to nicotine, and kicking the gum chewing can result in the same type of side effects as smoking. Nicotine gum is also not available cheaply. You can pay up to the price of a pack-and-a-half of cigarettes, so using it longer than the recommended 12 weeks will not save you any money in the long run. But, if you must have an expensive habit, gum chewing is the healthier option. Take it one step at a time and you will be ok. Right now, quitting your cigarette habit is the most important thing, and nicotine gum can certainly help you do that.

Tips On How To Stop Smoking

February 27th, 2010

Tip #1: Tell other people about your goal.

If you tell others when you will quit smoking, then you will stay committed to your goal more than not telling anyone. Ensure that you are surrounded by people with positive attitudes who want to see you succeed.

You don’t want to tell every single person you know as some people may judge you and make you feel bad about your current situation. So, be selective as to which people you inform of your intention to stop smoking.

Tip #2: Know exactly why you want to quit.

Spend some time thinking about the real reason that you want to stop smoking. Initially, you may say that you want to quit just for health reasons. But don’t just stop there. Keep going deeper and analyzing the core reason you want to stop smoking cigarettes.

Once you establish your own reason (which I like to call your inner why), you will have that clarity that you need in order to take the next step to achieve your goal. This deep rooted core reason will give you that extra motivation and fuel to whatever it takes to finally lose your smoking habit.

Tip #3: Carry a water bottle.

Every time you have an urge to smoke a cigarette, you need to divert your attention. Taking a big swig of water is enough for most people to get over than initial urge. So anytime you have a desire to smoke, then get that water bottle and drink some water. In the beginning, this may seem difficult, but you will soon get used to it.

Tip #4: Spend more time with people who don’t smoke.

One of the biggest reasons people smoke is because they are surrounded by people who also smoke. You will feel more pressure not to smoke when you are with your non-smoking friends.

There is power in influence through those that you spend the most time with. Psychologists have found that you become like the five closest people that you regularly hang out with. So, make it a daily habit to spend more time with non-smokers than smokers.

Tip #5: Your first target should be 21 days without smoking.

Studies have shown that people can develop a new habit if they do something for 3 weeks continuously. That means after you do this for 21 days straight, it will be more natural for you not to smoke than it will be for you to smoke. Just realize that the earliest stage will be the most difficult; that is the most important part of the journey.

Get Free Of The Cancer Causing Tobacco-filled Cigarettes And Smoke Electronic Cigarette For A Safer Future .

February 1st, 2010

There are billions of smokers today who smoke the conventional tobacco filled cigarettes on a daily basis. While several of them are totally ignorant of the hazards of smoking tobacco filled cigarettes, there are quite a lot of others who are fully knowledgeable of the ill effects of smoking tobacco filled cigarettes, and yet resume to smoke them regularly, because of their dependence. There is a ingredient of tobacco called nicotine, which gives a anxiety relieving and pleasurable calming effect and is the main reason for smoking taken up by people.

Tobacco has been confirmed to be carcinogenic and means that a person who smokes on a habitual basis is severely prone to mouth, lung cancer etc. The soothing effect of nicotine makes smoking an compulsion among the smokers as they crave for the pleasure it gives. This is why smokers are quite incapable to give up smoking despite knowing the dangerous nature of tobacco. However, most smokers are not knowledgeable of the fact that more than nicotine it is the whole concept of the regular cigarette that is more carcinogenic. A cigarette contains traces of tar, which cannot be digested by the human body and is inhaled into the lungs when you breath in a cigarette. Along with tar there are equally dangerous compounds that make cigarette smoking a high peril activity, and one fantastic way to get out of such compulsion is the usage of electronic cigarettes.

Electronic cigarette work on the trouble-free function that when a customer inhales a cigarette puff, a small quantity of liquid nicotine would be released by the atomizer, which is finally let out in the form of water vapor. Not like regular cigarettes that have an exhaust of filthy smoke, electronic cigarettes release nontoxic vapor into air, which is nontoxic to both an active smoker and a passive smoker. This is a great advantage for all electronic cigarette advocates, as most non-smokers dislike being passive smokers who are more susceptive to dangerous ailments caused out of smoking, than an active smoker. Also, many countries have started to ban smoking in public places, and the use of smokers would be a good help as you can openly smoke without ever being bothered about someone to ask you to stop smoking.

You can also choose the flavor that you would like for your cigarette as a replacement for of the dumb smell and taste that comes with all cigarettes. This is a excellent advantage too, as you need not feel guilty of the smell of smoke on your body and dress after you smoke and then need to meet an important delegate. electronic cigarettes have also been proven to be fantastic nicotine need reducers, making the price to buy them ultra economical and attractive. Try one of our electronic cigarettes, and realize what you have been missing all the while.
